A Southwest Airlines flight has made an emergency landing in San Jose on Wednesday afternoon, according to San Jose airport.

Southwest Flight 2581 from Burbank had to make an emergency landing at around 2:55 p.m. The pilot reported mechanical difficulty. Officials said an engine oil high-temperature warning prompted the pilot of a flight from Southern California to San Jose to make a plea for firefighters before landing safely.

The airport police and fire department responded to the scene to provide help.

The flight landed safely at 3:05 p.m. on Runway 30 left.

The aircraft taxied to the gate in its own power, airport officials said. The airplane that landed is a Boeing 737.

No injuries were reported. There were 96 passengers and five crew members on board the plane.

The plane will be taken out of service and repaired if necessary.
